If ever there was an official movie week in America, it’s the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day. I watched the movie Silver Linings Playbook today. I liked it. Recommend it. It’s a movie about what it means to recover from setbacks, and how we have to find a way to keep on living even when life doesn’t turn out the way we thought it would (or should). It’s also a story about family. When families face difficulties, these challenges either tear families apart or bring people together. (Often a little of both.) It’s a wonderfully human movie. Actual dialogue rather than explosions and car chases. And it tells a story. A good story. Is it the best movie I’ve ever seen? Probably not. But for a Wednesday afternoon on the day after Christmas and before heading back to the office and a busy week, it was just what the doctor ordered. And while it’s true that I liked Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence as the leading stars, I thought Robert DeNiro’s role as the dad was played perfectly. Take a Breath. Take a Breath and see a movie this week.
